Stability and Trust in Business: Alon Than Extends His Partnership with Hala Koszyki and Unveils the New Kago Sushi & Ramen

Hala Koszyki is celebrating its tin anniversary this year. The venue’s tenth anniversary coincides with the strengthening of a strategic business partnership. Renowned restaurateur Alon Than, whose Alon Omakase was awarded a Michelin star in 2026, has decided to extend his lease agreement. Kago Sushi, which has been present at Koszyki since its opening in 2016, has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment. The June opening of the first location under the repositioned and expanded Kago Sushi & Ramen concept confirms the strong position of Warsaw’s iconic food hall.

Alon Than is a name well known to enthusiasts of authentic Japanese cuisine in Poland, and his culinary craftsmanship has recently been recognised with a prestigious 2026 Michelin star for his signature Alon Omakase concept. Than has been part of Hala Koszyki’s pioneering ecosystem since 2016, when the venue redefined the format of contemporary meeting places and urban dining in Poland. The decision to sign a new long-term lease, combined with the complete transformation of the approximately 110 sq m restaurant and its adjacent summer terrace, as well as the evolution of its culinary offering, confirms Koszyki’s strong market position as a multifunctional urban destination for experiences in the capital.

A strategic partnership aligned with market trends

The main objective of the several-month modernisation process was to precisely reposition the Kago brand. It is worth noting that the very first Kago Sushi opened at Hala Koszyki in 2016 – and its name is directly linked to the venue, as the Japanese word kago (かご / カゴ) means “basket”. A decade later, in exactly the same location, the first restaurant featuring the expanded Kago Sushi & Ramen concept is making its debut. The restaurant’s new identity and extended menu respond directly to the rapidly evolving expectations and growing maturity of Warsaw’s culinary market, where consumers increasingly seek uncompromising authenticity and unique premium experiences.

“The main objective of the several-month modernisation process was to precisely reposition the Kago brand. The restaurant’s new identity and refreshed menu are a direct response to the rapidly evolving expectations and growing maturity of Warsaw’s culinary market, where consumers are looking for uncompromising authenticity and unique premium experiences,”
says Alon Than, owner of Kago Sushi & Ramen.

Authenticity on the plate – from ramen to omakase

Guests visiting the restaurant following its transformation can enjoy a completely refreshed menu focused on the uncompromising authenticity of Japanese recipes. Alongside expertly crafted sushi, the new signature speciality is slow-cooked ramen, which has become a defining feature of the restaurant’s new offering.

The true culinary highlight, however, is the exclusive omakase menu. This unique dining format invites guests to place their trust entirely in the chef’s skill, intuition and selection, with dishes prepared before their eyes using exceptional, seasonal ingredients.

The extension of the lease with Kago Sushi & Ramen and the opening of the restaurant under its new concept mark another step in strengthening Hala Koszyki’s market position as a destination where culture meets culinary excellence and long-term business partnerships provide the foundation for sustainable success.

Light, minimalism and detail – a masterful aesthetic

Following its transformation, Kago Sushi & Ramen has gained an entirely new visual identity. The interior architecture is based on a concept of honest, natural spaces designed to soothe the senses and create a sense of harmony. Carefully selected premium materials – natural wood, stone, plaster and exposed brick referencing Hala Koszyki’s architectural heritage – form the foundation of the design.

Thoughtfully designed soft lighting from simple tubular wall lamps illuminates the interior, while blossoming sakura trees introduce a subtle Japanese accent. Textured fabrics in a neutral colour palette complete the space, creating a cohesive, luxurious yet exceptionally welcoming interior inspired by the Japandi aesthetic.

“Extending our partnership with Kago Sushi & Ramen and investing in the restaurant’s new concept is excellent confirmation that Hala Koszyki continues to provide a stable and highly effective foundation for the growth of our tenants’ businesses. We are proud that restaurateurs of Alon Than’s calibre, whose culinary excellence was recognised with a Michelin star this year, see long-term value in their partnership with Globalworth and are choosing to build their future at our property. It is compelling proof that Koszyki continues to evolve while maintaining its leadership position and offering a unique synergy between outstanding gastronomy and the highest standards of retail asset management,”
comments Weronika Maria Kuna, MRICS, Asset Management & Leasing Manager at Globalworth.

The restaurant’s new concept perfectly reflects Hala Koszyki’s strategy as a synonym for quality, a home to outstanding culinary concepts and experiences, and a destination associated with some of the most recognised names in gastronomy. Koszyki is also synonymous with urban lifestyle. By working with experienced restaurateurs, Hala Koszyki has remained one of Warsaw residents’ favourite meeting places for a decade, offering the highest standards of gastronomy, space and events.
