“The Peasants,” directed by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman, is the Polish candidate for the Oscars. Until October 12th, on the mezzanine at Hala Koszyki, you can admire the exhibition “Painted Peasants.” It is a collection of selected 24 paintings from 40,000 oil-painted frames that were used to create the latest animation by the creators of “Loving Vincent.”
The exhibition “Painted Peasants” at Hala Koszyki brings to life the world of the fascinating novel by Władysław Reymont, transferred to the big screen through paintings inspired by the era of Young Poland and European realism from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The exhibition presents a small fragment of the work put into the realization of “The Peasants.” Over 100 painters in 4 studios worked on the film, collectively spending over 230,000 hours on canvas. The final result – a hand-painted animation – can be seen in cinemas from October 13th. Admission to the event is free.

Hala Koszyki została wzniesiona ponad 100 lat temu przy ulicy Koszykowej w Warszawie na terenie ówczesnego folwarku Koszyki. Zaprojektowana w secesyjnym stylu przez architekta Juliusza Dzierżanowskiego, dopiero jesienią 2016 roku wróciła na mapę miasta jako wyjątkowy punkt towarzyski i kulinarny, gdzie można zjeść w kilkunastu restauracjach i barach lub kupić produkty spożywcze do domu. Kompleks obejmuje 16 000 mkw. powierzchni biurowej i 6 500 mkw. powierzchni handlowej. Właścicielem i zarządcą Hali Koszyki jest Globalworth.
