Kartka z Powstania (Warsaw Rising)

From August 11 th 2021 r. in Hala Koszyki you will be able to watch the film ‘Kartka z Powstania’ [Warsaw Rising], and through VR technology the audience will travel back in time to experience the emotions of those involved in the uprising of 1944.

‘Kartka z Powstania’ tells the story of one man involved in the uprising Cpt. Władysław “Sabały” Sieroszewski, who when he went off to fight in the uprising of August 1944 received a sheet of paper from his daughter with a prayer. He did not know at the time that this paper would later have a large effect on his further fate. The film is a fictionalised account of historical events shot in Poland using virtual reality resulting in the audience becoming part of the events. This innovative format makes it possible to communicate historical events to a wide range of people including to the younger generation. The screenings will take place on the mezzanine of Hala Koszyki from Monday to Friday between 12 pm and 7 pm, while full sanitary practices will be maintained including minimum distances between people, mouths and noses covered at all times with the equipment being disinfected after each use. The film ‘Warsaw Rising’ has received a number of awards including:

– An Award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for Digital Culture.
– Best Virtual Reality at the Los Angeles Film Awards
– Best Polish VR film – the Cinergia 24th Forum of European Cinema

The film also won acclaim at many film festivals both in Poland and abroad including:

A maximum of 13 people can take part in one screening.

The screenings are free of charge and the film is rated 12 years and older.

The screenings start at 12 am and go on until  7 pm and are free of charge.
